Movianto extends warehouse storage capacity for narcotics in Neunkirchen
4 November 2008, Stuttgart/Germany
Movianto, the healthcare logistics service provider, has extended its warehouse storage capacity for controlled drugs. Since the completion of the new warehouse facility in September 2008, there are now 430 narcotic pallet places available in Neunkirchen in Germany’s Saar region. Further space for 100 narcotic pallets is available at the site in Kist, Bavaria.
With this high storage capacity for narcotics Movianto has set a standard: “We provide pharmaceutical manufacturers with the opportunity to expand their market position by distributing their controlled drugs at the highest level of quality,” explains Peter Krämer, Officer for Controlled Drugs at Movianto Germany. Pharmaceutical products are among those classified as sensitive freight and this applies to narcotics to an even greater extent. “This is why manufacturers need a reliable partner they can completely trust.”
Warehousing and distribution of controlled drugs is complex and places high demands on security and logistics. To ensure appropriate storage and transportation of narcotics and to meet the responsibility this entails, the strictest security measures and processes must be observed for receipt of goods, pick & pack and distribution. The storage of controlled drugs is therefore not only the most elaborate but also the most expensive form of warehousing. Many points need to be taken into consideration ranging from essential staff training, authorisation from the Federal Opium Agency to constructural requirements for storage space. “We posses the necessary expertise within the company,” says Thomas Creuzberger, Managing Director of Movianto Germany. “In addition to the new contracts we agreed recently, we expect that the volume of narcotics we manage will increase further.”
