Movianto supplies pharmacies with Extavia from Novartis
Innovative solution guarantees same day delivery cold chain distribution

Movianto has been entrusted with the direct distribution of Extavia to pharmacies in Germany. Extavia is an Interferon-beta-1b-product by Novartis for the treatment of multiple sclerosis.
“When awarding the contract, the most essential considerations included the guaranteed same-day direct distribution of products on orders made before 11:00 a.m. as well as the high-quality customer service for pharmacists” states Dr. Herbert Altmann, Head of Institutional Account Management at Novartis Pharma GmbH.
The guaranteed direct distribution of the product is made possible with the use of a Combined Model. Here Movianto, as supplier of innovative logistics solutions for the pharmaceutical industry, and GEHE Pharma Handel - specialist in the distribution of pharamceutical products work together. In this Combined Model, the two Celesio subsidiaries provide two central distribution centres and 20 regional distribution centres located close to pharmacists at their disposal. They are therefore in a position to carry out immediate distribution. In this way, the cold chain for Extavia, a temperature-sensitive product, is maintained during all stages - from goods receipt up until the point of delivery.
The service package is being further supplemented by pharmexx GmbH, who has supported Novartis in the creation of an MS nursing team. The team of MS nurses are specialised in the care of patients suffering from multiple sclerosis.
With this innovative combination offered by several Celesio companies, Movianto once again proves its efficiency in the development and implementation of logistics and distribution solutions for the pharmaceutical industry.
