Movianto steps in for Exchange Supplies

Exchange Supplies has agreed a logistics contract with leading healthcare logistics provider Movianto, to ensure the prompt and reliable delivery of its drug rehabilitation supplies in the UK.

Launched in 2003, by experienced ex-drug unit nurses Andrew Preston and Jon Derricott, Exchange Supplies is a unique social enterprise. Specialising in developing innovative quality products for needle exchanges, drug information, and conferences for drug services, Exchange Supplies also offers employment and training opportunities for drug users.

Movianto is distributing Exchange Supplies' glass ampoules which contain water for injections used for dissolving drugs with reduced risk of bacterial infections and serious diseases such as HIV and Hepatitis C. The spread of HIV is significantly reduced by supplying these ampoules to drug clinics and needle exchanges throughout Britain.
Andrew Preston, MD of Exchange Supplies commented: "We approached Movianto to distribute our water for injections which, following a change in the law can be distributed without a prescription by drug services to users to prevent the spread of Hepatitis C and HIV."

Exchange Supplies provides the ampoules with its patented amp snapper to ensure minimum risk of blood borne virus contamination of places where drug users are injecting. As demand for this product increased, Exchange Supplies encountered a growing problem with its existing carriers with many deliveries resulting in broken ampoules.
Movianto was recommended to Exchange Supplies by pharmaceutical manufacturer, Hameln Pharma, which provides Exchange Supplies with the water ampoules.

Hameln recommended Movianto as a careful, conscientious carrier and since switching we haven't had any problems with broken amps," concluded Andrew Preston.

Movianto is distributing ampoules for Exchange Supplies, using its own fleet of vans throughout the country. Delivery of the ampoules will be predominantly to specialist drug services and other healthcare settings across the UK.
